How to display a sign in a commercial, industrial or special purpose zone
To do your own town planning permit application to display a sign in any industrial or commercial zone, the Capital City zone and Docklands zone as a VicSmart application, the first step is to check if your application is eligible for the VicSmart process. This will ensure that your application meets the following criteria:
- The sign is not within 30 metres of land (not a road) which is in a residential zone
- The sign is not a pole sign, sky sign, reflective sign, internally illuminated, floodlit, electronic or animated; and
- The total display size of the sign does not exceed 10 square metres
- The land is in one of the following zones:
- Any industrial zone
- Any commercial zone
- Capital City Zone
- Docklands Zone
- Does not trigger a permit under another part of the planning scheme
