What to prepare before your pre-application meeting

The following list will help you prepare for a pre-application meeting. This information will enable the council to decide whether or not your application is eligible for the VicSmart permit process and advise you of any planning policies or guidelines that may apply to your proposed development.

  • A description of the site in terms of development and use
  • Photographs of the site (including the affected area) and neighbouring properties
  • A sketch of your proposal including landscaping
  • Confirm with the council when you book your pre-application meeting exactly what will be required

If your proposal qualifies as VicSmart, the council will give you a VicSmart checklist that outlines the information that must be provided to support your application.

Note:

If your application qualifies for VicSmart, this guide can help you with all of the town planning information required for your permit application including the VicSmart checklists.. Depending on your type of application, you will still possibly need the services of an architect or draftsperon, surveyor, conveyancer or design professional. If you are ineligible for VicSmart you will likely need a town planner to help with your application.
