How to remove, destroy or lop one tree in an overlay

To do your own planning application to remove, destroy or lop one tree in an overlay as a VicSmart application, the first step is to check if your application is eligible for the VicSmart process. This will ensure that your application meets the following criteria:

    1. The land is in any one of the following overlays:
      • Environmental Significance Overlay
      • Vegetation Protection Overlay
      • Significant Landscape Overlay
      • Neighbourhood Character Overlay
    2. A permit has not been granted for a VicSmart application to remove, destroy or lop a tree on the same land within the last 12 months;

    3. There is no other current VicSmart application to remove, destroy or lop a tree on the same land;

    4. The proposal does not trigger a permit under another part of the planning scheme.
